Pre-comp 1 (approx. ages 4, 5, 6)

This program features a fun, safe and caring environment and focuses on developing flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance and technical form. The children will receive training on the vault, bars, beam, floor, trampoline and other gymnastics apparatus. There are no previous skills required for admittance into this program. Athletes will be screened for suitability. Athletes will train up to 6 hours a week in 2 – 3 hour classes (year 1), or up to 9 hours a week (year 2). Commitment to this schedule is required for acceptance into the pre-comp program. Customarily, athletes join this program in the summer or in September and continue year round. Gymnasts in this program will progress to Pre-comp 2 after year 1 or 2 depending on their skill level and age.
Athletes are NOT eligible to compete until they are 7 years of age on December 31st at the end of the competitive year. Determination of whether or not an athlete is ready to compete will be made by the coach.

Pre-comp 2 (approx. ages 7 – 8)

This program focuses on preparing young athletes, who desire a more demanding level of gymnastics, to become competitive gymnasts. The program focus is on the development of flexibility, strength, power, speed, endurance, basic skills and form, as well as technical skills. Routine development for each of the 4 component apparatus’ vault, bars, beam and floor also begins here. The goal of this program is to provide a complete development program providing athletes the opportunity to achieve their maximum potential. Athletes in this program may progress to participate in our competitive provincial program or our invitational program. These athletes will train up to 12 hours a week depending on their age and skill level. They will strive to participate in one or more competitions as once as they are eligible. Gymnasts chosen for this program will be grouped according to ability and age. Commitment to this schedule is required for acceptance into this program.
